Mario Bonello One of the Greatest Players ever to grace the Nadur Youngsters shirt was, without any doubt, Mario Bonello (ta' Borom). He started playing for Nadur youngsters at the tender age of 12 when he took part in the Under 16 League. He won a League title and a K.O. competition at this level. His talent was noticed by the first team coaches and at 15 he managed to make his debut with the first team on the 31st December 1984, in the league match against Victoria Hotspurs. He also made this a memorable debut by scoring his 1st and the match winning goal. Mario proved to be one local example of dedication and determination in his footballing career that lasted for 21 years. He called it a day after helping his beloved Nadur Youngsters winning their 8th title in history. This happened on the 13th May 2006 in the decisive match against title contenders Kercem Ajax. With a 2 - 2 score line, Nadur won the title with a point over the Greens. For many years Mario was captain of his team. Many young players have a very good example to follow when playing for the Nadur team. Mario played in all Gozitan competitions and his personal showcase is proudly showing medals of all. 1 Nadur Youngsters 'Most Dedicated Player' 6 Player of the Month. In his days he was also a Gozo F.C. player taking part in the Malta F.A. leagues. Apart from gracing Gozo with his skills, Mario Bonello played with the Maltese sides Sirens FC, Mqabba FC and Birkirkara FC. He played in all Divisions, from 3rd to Premier. Mario’s showcase has also: 2 MFA 1st Division League Mario took charge of the last competitive match of Nadur Youngsters, the Super Cup Final against Ghajnsielem (2-1) in the absence of Aleksandar Simoncic, and came out with flying colours.
