Kercem Ajax -0-  Nadur Youngsters -0-

26.01.09   Gozo Stadium

Nadur Youngsters and Kercem Ajax draw again, a draw which contents either team.  Nadur were missing some key players, Joseph M. Portelli, Josef Buttigieg, Jeffrey Meilak and Anthony Portelli, although the latter did manage to play the last 15 minutes.  Serbian Bojan Brajovic made his debut for the Whites.

Nadur started on fast pace S. Muscat saw his attempt blocked by the Ajax defence.  Play was mostly in midfield with no real goalmouth danger action on any side.  A very hopeful try by Nkwocha ended well over the bar.  Nadur had a cross by J. Said well intercepted by Mercieca before Brajovic could connect.  On the other side E Godfrey entered the area and his back heel was sent sky-high by Debrincat.  The last action of the first half was from a Kercem Corner which saw Debrincat beating Sultana but to his disappointment S. Attard was there to clear off the fatal line.

The second half saw Kercem going out well and had a free kick by Camilleri ending high.  Nadur had a good opportunity when B. Brajovic escaped his marker and the offside trap and went towards goal but Mercieca did well to block the danger.    Debrincat wasted another chance when he fired high from an ideal position.  A cross by Stojanovic was well met by Debrincat but Sultana was well placed to save the danger into a corner.
Nadur appealed for a penalty when a header towards goal by M. Portelli was clearly handed by an Ajax defender but the referee waved play on.  J. Said had an effort going wide.  Sultana in the Youngsters goal easily covered a free kick by Debrincat, and the same Debrincat turned provider when he fed a nice cross to Tunde whose shot ended just wide.  In the last action of the match, a free kick by A. Simoncic hit the cross bar and A. Portelli headed into goal, but the joy of the Youngsters followers ended abruptly as there was a clear offside infringement, rightly noticed by the linesmen.  With this result both sides remains in the last 2 places of the table with Kercem a point behind Nadur but also a game in hand.

Referee: Reno Refalo

Nadur Youngsters Formation: Steve Sultana; Mario Portelli; Saviour Attard; Peter Buttigieg; Aleksandar Simoncic; Branislav Timotic; Jonathan Said (Anthony Portelli); Joseph Portelli Said; Shaun Muscat; Bojan Brajovic; Charlie Attard.
